چکیده

The paper reports on the experiments undertaken at the University of Wollongong to characterise delay parameters of an indoor wireless channel at 5GHz bandwidth. The measurements were undertaken at different locations around the campus with results recorded for a post-processing to calculate mean excess delay, r.m.s. delay spread, and the coherence bandwidth of the channel.

Indoor Non-directed Optical Wireless Communications - Optimization of the Lambertian Order

For an indoor non-directed line of sight optical wireless communication (NLOS-OWC) system we investigate the optimized Lambertian order (OLO) of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). We firstly derive an expression for the OLO from a conventional Lambertian LED model. Then, we analyze the indoor multi-cell NLOS-OWC channel characteristics including the optical power distribution and the multipath time ...

Smart-antenna operation for indoor wireless local-area networks using OFDM

This paper reports link-level Monte Carlo simulations for a system that is compatible with the physical layer of the 5-GHz IEEE 802.11a wireless-local-area network and utilizes an adaptive antenna array at the access point for single-user smart-antenna operation, as well as for space-division multiple access (SDMA). For the spatial indoor radio propagation channel, complex impulse-response reco...

Indoor Link Quality Comparison of IEEE 802.11a Channels in a Multi-radio Mesh Network Testbed

The most important criterion for achieving the maximum performance in a wireless mesh network (WMN) is to limit the interference within the network. For this purpose, especially in a multi-radio network, the best option is to use non-overlapping channels among different radios within the same interference range. Previous works that have considered non-overlapping channels in IEEE 802.11a as the...

Improved time and frequency synchronization in presence of imperfect channel state information

This paper addresses altogether time and frequency synchronization in IEEE 802.11a orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless communication systems. The proposed algorithms have two main features: (i) they make use of an additional source of information available at IEEE 802.11a physical layer, on top of the usual ones typically adopted for synchronization such as training seque...

Stationary Propagation Characteristics for 5 GHz Wireless LAN Applications

Empirical propagation characteristics of typical wireless LAN channels in the 5 GHz to 6 GHz spectrum are presented in this paper. A network analyzer was used to measure the stationary channel frequency response and an inverse Fourier transform was used to obtain the channel impulse response. Measurements were taken in four residential settings and one office/cubicle setting. Path loss and dela...
